Jazzanova’s approach to mixing has always been refreshingly open and varied, so it’s no surprise that ‘Broad Casting’ does exactly that and includes styles from reggae to funk and slower tempo house. With soulful material from Wahoo and Fat Freddy’s Drop making a more than pleasing start, the pace moves to excellent remixes from Charles Webster, Mr Scruff and Atjazz, whose stellar take on their own Clara Hill collaboration ‘Nowhere (I Can Go)’ is a real highlight. With more twists and turns the music explores more beat varieties in a closing section that takes in Pharoah Roche, Arken and Nicola Kramer, wrapping up an after hours mix par excellence, fresh and involving the whole way through.
