Ben Cook and DJ Spun’s Rong Music label is increasingly attracting attention from lovers of the disco/house interface, and DJ Spun’s mix here gives a good representation of what the label is about. Making people dance is clearly the number one priority, through the combinations of disco, funk and slightly dubby house that make tracks like Barfly’s ‘Same Changes’ extremely groovy. CD2 offers an unmixed selection that ends with two excellent version’s of Mudd & Chico Hamilton’s ‘Kerry’s Caravan’ – Ray Mang’s mix in particular one to put on repeat. Tussle, Barfly, Lee Douglas and DJ Harry are also producers to watch out for – and this is a collection that should be high up on the shopping list this summer.
