Cocoon are half way through the alphabet in their letter series – and for 2013 they’ve chosen the warmth of the colour pink. That explains the dreamy opener, Makam’s ‘Samsara’ which has quite a strange vocal but gradually asserts itself, and the warm glow of Kyle Geiger’s ‘The Comedown’. There are tougher sounds here too, though, and Gary Beck offers the punchy ‘Stranger’, Douglas Greed’s ‘Dynamit’, featuring Kuss, gets a good, funky head of steam up, and wAFF’s ‘BeatMaker Z’ is a strong, driving track. Finally Julien Bracht closes out with a bright, spacey bit of tech house, ‘Anthem Rhythm’ perfect for dancing on the beach to. Another reliable addition to a series whose reputation continues to grow.
