No room for doubt here – this handsome triple pack, with its
‘Blaxploitation’ style artwork, is a fitting document that sees the Def mix
production crew reunited for their 20th anniversary celebrations. David
Morales, Frankie Knuckles, Satoshi Tomiie and Hector Romero all played a big
part in house music’s evolution, and their biggest contributions are here.
Morales’ remixes of Mariah Carey and Jamiroquai, classic club mixes of
Alison Limerick, Frankie Knuckles and Sounds of Blackness and Satoshi takes
on Loleatta Holloway and his own ‘Love In Traffic’. While some of these
productions are ubiquitous, it’s good to have them brought together and
mixed in a single volume – fittingly described by Defected as ‘a diary of
House over the last 20 years’.
