The 20/20 Soundsystem man has always been a good choice for a party soundtrack, with a breadth of musical knowledge that led him to such successful outings as ‘Stars on 33’. Here the emphasis is very much on deeper, easy paced house – but with plenty of funk added, computing easily through the brain to the legs! Stand-out tracks in the early section are Will Saul’s wonderful combination of deep bass and flighty synths on ‘Pause’, while Marcelli Giordano’s ‘Shogun’ drives the tempo forward in a remix by Serge Santiago. As things take a turn towards tech house, the superbly deep combination of the Art of Tones’ ‘Praise’ and Brett Johnson & DJ Heather’s ‘Everything’s Electric’ clinches an outstanding mix, polished off with Swag and 20/20 faves Random Factor. Excellent stuff – Lawson on top form.
