Illum Sphere is a welcome addition to the Fabric roll call, and here he (Ryan Hunn) delivers a mix of fuzzy techno and electro that is really well paced. It’s surprisingly light in places too, such as when moving between Kassem Mosse’s ‘B3’ and Demdike Stare’s ‘Repository Of Light’. There is a satisfying ebb and flow early on, with dub and house music comfortably rubbing shoulders, while late in the mix big names in the form of Actress and E-Dancer supply intelligent techno. With a broad sweep from the late 70s to this year, Hunn has cast the net wide – and has caught some really good sounds in the process.
