Peterson’s been turning out his attic again, and sifting through the dusty
sleeves of his undeniably huge American collection. Rarities abound once
again, chosen with an eye for detail, novelty and what works well together.
Ray Camacho’s Latin cover of Brass Construction’s ‘Movin’ On’ stands out, as
does the yearning ‘I’m Wishin’ from Lorez Alexandria and the brassy ‘You
Know Baby’ from Mary Lou Williams, an ultra rare track. Other highlights in
another eyeopening Peterson package come from The Diddys, Al Jarreau (his
cover of ‘My Favourite Things’) and an extremely soulful cut from RAMP, ‘The
Old One Two’.
