There’s an international flavour to the first offering of collected funk
from Jalapeno. Funky breaks from Australia, US and Germany rub shoulders
with two new tracks from Kraak & Smaak, the label’s doyens. It’s all
enjoyable brazen, brassy and funky, with the occasional strong whiff of
cheese, such as in label heads’ Skeewiff’s 70s throwback ‘Triumph Stag’. The
Kraak & Smaak tracks stand out, especially ‘Mad As Hell’, while a dash of
four to the floor funk from Maelstrom & Natz add more variety.
