Kiss FM had a big hand in the launch of the dance compilation, and they used to excel in collections that blended the best of house and urban back in the early 90s. These days they put much more emphasis on smooth R&B grooves, reflecting the upsurge of urban music on the airwaves. If you’re a daytime listener this is what you’ve heard over the last few months, and it’s mostly good quality – Ashanti’s ‘Only U’, Lemar’s ‘Another Day’, and, love it or hate it, Kanye West’s ‘Through The Wire’. Things go horribly wrong, however, with the inclusion of Boyz II Men and Big Brovaz, so you’d be well advised to keep the skip button to hand.
