The ‘BoomBox’ is of course a deeply fashionable Sunday night in the east end of London… but Jerry Bouthier’s compilation casts off all the trappings to
deal with the music itself. In one sense it’s all you would expect from
Kitsune – roughened edges, sharp, groovy basslines and thumping beats.
Bouthier turns in a well-paced mix though, and in the more reflective ‘Music
From The Heart’ from Oliver Koletzki shows an aptitude for throwing in
something a bit different. Where this really scores though, is in the tracks
from Daft Punk, Digitalism, Revolte and Rex The Dog – with a fine Van She
mix of Feist’s 1 2 3 4 thrown in for good measure. Roof raising!
