Slip ‘n’ Slide’s Klubb Jazz series always gives a good account of itself, never straying from its formula of quality, warm-hearted house but never straying too far out on a jazz tip either. Here it’s a pleasing mix of past and present, with new hope Tiger Stripes contributing two decent cuts along with the powerful ‘South Africa’ of Oskido. A valuable early remix of the Truby Trio by Ame is included, a hypnotic take on ‘Universal Love’, and the wonderful vocals of Lisa Shaw are applied to the sultry Andy Caldwell track ‘Warrior’ and the familiar, yearning Q Burns Abstract Message ‘This Time’ – in luminous Charles Spencer guise.
