After the phenomenal success of ‘Rej’, a DJ favourite for much of this year, Âme turn their attention to mixing – with arresting results. No ‘Rej’ here, though the sublime ‘Nia’ makes an appearance just before the end. Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann’s set is a forward thinking affair that takes in elements of house, electro and techno, working in the pair’s love of a disco-influenced groove. Derrick May, Carl Craig and Henrik Schwarz star on the remix front, with Craig’s remix of Jonny L’s ‘This Time’ a rarity to treasure, Meanwhile Jump Cutz and Chateau Flight offer wonderfully hypnotic, slightly trancey tracks that go round in giddy circles. The overall package is the star though, brilliantly mixed and thought through from Laurie Spiegel to Ashra. One of the comps of the year for sure!
