The Art of Chill comes naturally to The Orb, but they have an uncanny talent for throwing in the unexpected at the same time, meaning that even the most horizontal of listeners is kept on their toes. So it is that this two CD pack drifts in and out of consciousness with Gas, Brian Eno and Steve Hillage, upping the pace now and then with tracks like Autolump’s ‘Lumpy Psalms’, and throwing in a few wildcards courtesy of the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra (‘Duck You Sucker’), David Bowie’s ‘Warszawa’ (from the ‘Low’ album) and Thomas Fehlmann’s ‘With Oil’. Suitably unhinged yet relaxing – just what you want from The Orb.
