Don’t look away just yet! Despite its title this is a more than competent survey of trance music that delves beneath the cheesy topping that affects so many of these compilations. Tim Stark has chosen and mixed these tracks really well, with a CD each of ‘euphoric’ (Johann Gielen and Evolve tick that box), ‘tech’ (Lange, Sander Van Doorn and E-Craig all looking lively) and ‘trance anthems’, where Space Brothers, Chakra, Rank 1 and Thrillseekers all make welcome appearances. This being Resist you can’t blame them for including their own ‘Age of Love’ – but they do so with two excellent mixes from Cosmic Gate and Paul Van Dyk. Excellent, rousing trance music.
