Hamburg and Detroit – two cities that are brought together in this excellent mix from Lawrence, aka Peter M. Kersten. He’s made a really well judged set that moves through deep and cool house and techno before steadily applying the pressure to get to a high point. All quite standard, you might think, but it’s easier said than done. The early deepness comes courtesy of Smallpeople & Rau’s ‘Life Aquatic’ and Schatrax’s ‘Overcome’, but the best bit of the mix is where things start to pump up, with Delano Smith’s ‘My Life’ and Baby Ford & The Ifach Collective supplying the pivotal moments. Wrapping things up in some style is Roman Flügel’s Duran Duran homage, ‘Brian Le Bon’, sporting the riff from ‘Save A Prayer’. Cocoon’s best release for some time.
