If it’s too slow to disco, then why are DMC reviewing it? Well, a fair point maybe, but these are the sort of records that fit perfectly either at the end of an energetic dance-athon or by the pool in the early evening. There are some great songs here, best enjoyed if you are safe in the knowledge there will be quite a bit of cheese involved – not to mention huge doses of West Coast sunshine. Ned Doheny’s ‘Give It Up For Love’ sets the relaxed scene, taken up by the entertaining lyrics of Rupert Holmes’ ‘Deco Lady’ and Brian Elliot’s complaints about exorbitant rent in ‘Room To Grow’. Chicago, The Doobie Brothers, Fleetwood Mac and a collector’s item from Jan Hammer Group also feature – with the blurb quite rightly claiming that this final track could sit perfectly on any album by contemporary acts like Air. A compilation that gives you every excuse to take a holiday!
