It’s always difficult to tell how good a house music really is when you have to listen to truncated promo edits, but safe to say ATFC’s mixes for the capital are going to get Defected’s year off to a very good start. Some of his double-track blends are particularly effective, as are the inclusions of leading tracks from Dennis Ferrer, Reboot and Afefe Iku. As a bonus we get some classics to close out each set – the smoky H-Foundation track ‘Tonight’ for CD1, the sparkling fireworks of Lil’ Mo Yin Yang’s ‘Reach’ on CD2. With several vocal house belters inbetween, and a couple of nicely chosen moments of reflection, this is a highly recommendable ‘In The House’ release, as colourful as its cover.
