Guillermo Scott Herren continues his plans for world domination with his fourth long playing release of the year – a rich vein of creativity that makes the likes of you and me feel like we’re standing still. Regulars to his releases will know that Savath & Savalas make fuzzy, folk-inflected music in Spanish and Catalan that really comes to life in the small hours. This album may not be hugely different from previous offerings but it doesn’t really need to be, casing a beautifully hazy outlook with its dreamy vocals and lightly scattered percussion. ‘Me Voy’ is a good example of their sound, chant-like vocals over a backing that occasionally hints at a shoegaze influence – and the whole album fuses into a whole beautifully well. Presumably Herren will need a lie down for the rest of the year now!
