Cosmic Balearic Beats – Volume One
Eskimo

With this series the label plans to showcase new talent from around the globe, widening its sonic smorgasbord to include space-disco, Italo, electro, classic house and trouser-rousers. Stratus [Mat Anthony and Martin Jenkins who made 2005’s Fear Of Magnetism album] but ‘Footprints’ is a luminescent stew of breaking bells, funk guitar and squiggly melodies which sets the scene for a succession of further delights like maelstrom’s guitar-rippling beauty ‘Petricho’ or Skinny Joe and Ferre from disco Devil trading as Rubber Room for the italo-heaven of ‘Cockroach’.  If you read these burblings you will definitely have heard of Coyote’s Timm Sure and Ampo, who show up here with the typically-glorious ‘Grow Your Hair’. But each of the 13 tracks – other names including Lovelock, In Flagranti, Ichisan, Spektrum, bottin, Massimiliano Pagliara, Phoreski and Homerun [whose ‘Killer Storm’ runs a hot bath of lush 80s melodies and strings] – strikes right at the heart of delirious dancefloor cavorting and the early hours afterwards with heavenly aplomb.   Write your name in the snow now!
