This album feels like a love story just itching to be shared between two old friends and their listeners. And if that sounds like romantic idealism then perhaps it is, but if the word Balearic does mean anything it’s probably about the ideal of disparate styles of music being fused together with an open minded philosophy and cosmopolitan attitude. The music on this CD and the fact that it’s also on vinyl, which says something in itself, is a startling collection of everything from The Osmonds to Sweet to The Hollies alongside Chicken Lips plus the glorious gem of The Willow Band, and stretches the bounds of reality and taste to the very limit. But then isn’t all music beautifully subjective.
