This is like a homecoming for Erick Morillo, who made his last mix for Strictly Rhythm in 1995. Since then he’s had the whole Subliminal thing and become one of the world’s most prominent house DJs – though some might argue his productions haven’t always been consistently good. It’s valuable, then, to be reminded of classics like Lil Mo Yin Yang’s ‘Reach’, arguably one of the 90s’ best house tracks, which appears in the company of other Morillo productions on CD3 – the hugely uplifting ‘Jazz It Up’, ‘Love & Happiness’ with the vocals of India and, of course, the irresistible ‘I Like To Move It’. Morillo’s first two CDs are excellent two, well paced mixes that build up quite a head of steam. CD1 hits the big groove with ATFC’s remix of DCA Project’s ‘Sandcastles’, followed by Morillo’s excellent ‘Life Goes On’ collaboration with Richard Great. CD2 meanwhile works well with Zoo Brazil, Harry ‘Choo Choo Romero’ and Chocolate Puma’s ‘Whohaddrums’. Three CDs of house happiness await!
