Normally anthems CDs are a good introduction to a dance genre, but in Paul Van Dyk’s case this is extremely well mixed, a seamless triple album of trance highs. He sets the bar high from the off, moving from Robert Miles’ ‘Children’ straight into Three In One’s remix of ‘Café Del Mar’ – and nor is he too self indulgent, including some but not too many of his own productions. CD2 is the pick, going a bit below the surface to offer us tunes from First State, Yuri Kane and Maarten De Jong, while the third disc works Van Dyk’s ‘For An Angel’ into Nalin & Kane’s ‘Beachball’ seamlessly. Van Dyk knows exactly what he’s doing here, and offers excellent value for money among the numerous trance-based highs.
