The Gecko beach club is described as an ‘ultra chic getaway’, lying as it does on the island of Formentera, just off the coast of Ibiza. Its compilation features two DJs who come well equipped for summer compiling – Chris Coco with his almost peerless experience of down tempo bliss, and Pete Gooding with his previous Café Mambo credentials that give him the edge on heat soaked house music. And so it proves here, so that while there are few surprises there are also plenty of high points. Coco begins his set with Seu Jorge & Almaz taking on ‘Everybody Loves The Sunshine’, and runs through some really nice slower jams from the likes of Blackbelt Andersen, Jay Shepheard, Kevin Rankin and Chilly Gonzales, making sure each has something a little quirky or psychedelic. Gooding’s selection features quite a few of his own tracks, but that’s a good thing when tracks such as ‘Those Eyes’ are included, Kellie Allen’s vocal going with a superior bass line to create the highlight of a fluid house set. Danny O’s ‘The Realm’, Gooding’s remix of Robot 84 and Dave Seaman’s remix of Samu.I’s ‘Restless Dreams’ also make a strong impression. Quality holiday fodder from Seamless once again!
