As you’d expect this isn’t any ordinary Global Underground release. Felix Da Housecat has never been backward in coming forward when it comes to taking on DJ mixes, and the twosome here take the Global Underground series into new territory. It does, admittedly, have a slow start on CD1 as things get underway, but it really starts to shift with Benny Benassi’s ‘Love And Emotion’ and the darker Thomas Bangalter track ‘Outrage’. CD2 doesn’t hang around at all, throwing bulky beats into the mix in a bid to champion the sound of earlier house. Clashing beats and basslines add to the excitement of this raw mix, with JoJo De Freq’s ‘Saturn Returns’ crashing into Armand Van Helden’s ‘Je T’Aime’, while Etienne De Crecy’s ‘Punk’, John Dahlback’s ‘Blink’ and Anthony Rother’s ‘Moderntronic 1’ propel the listener on to the stratospheric final track, Kris Menace and Fred Falke’s ‘Fairlight’. It’s a stunning second mix, worth the price of admission alone.
