Harbour Boat Trips 01: Copenhagen Mixed By Trentmoller

Hernan Cattaneo’s ever expanding portfolio of mixes for Renaissance has just gained its strongest offering yet. This is really beefy house, not relying so much on bass lines as on a heavy kick drum that drives it ever onwards. On CD1, just the pick of the two, this is done at a slower tempo with Skylark, L. Kubic, Hideo Kobayashi and the excellent, driving collaboration between Cattaneo and Soundexile, ‘Pastida’. CD2 is noticeably faster, powering out of the blocks with Tom Glass’s ‘She Shines’ and never really letting up until Henry Saiz’ equally powerful ‘They Came From The Light’, an hour and ten minutes later. It’s mostly four to the floor, though Cattaneo’s occasional hints at breaks keep the dancer on their toes, in what is his best mix album yet.
