This is high octane stuff from Laidback Luke, who makes his first commercial compilation for Mixmash in the company of rising Swedish talent Avicii. Anyone liking the efforts of the Swedish House Mafia will certainly go for this, as it’s a pair of fast moving mixes that bridge the gap between house and trance. On Luke’s mix, Tonka’s ‘Jack Track’ and Wynter Gordan’s ‘Dirty Talk’ mix up old school to great effect, while we’re also treated to remixes of Le Roux, Calvin Harris and System F, not to mention the superb MSTRKFT / John Legend collaboration ‘Heartbreaker’. It says a lot for Avicii that his mix is just as good, and the breakdowns of David Amo & Julian Navas’ ‘Heart Beat’ and Cicada’s ‘One Beat Away’ quicken the pulse, part way through a high adrenalin section of the mix. Both these parts are extremely dancefloor friendly, keeping things lean and mean.
