An obvious choice for Late Night Tales, Air’s mix that concentrates on the senses, happy to leave rhythm tracks for the daylight hours, That means we get the sublime orchestration of Nino Rota, Tan Dun and Maurice Ravel, interspersed with wonderful pieces of solo writing from Scott Walker, Elliot Smith and Robert Wyatt. Add a dash of The Cure, The Troggs and an unexpectedly relaxed Black Sabbath (‘Planet Caravan’) and you have a collection of music that taps into that lovely woozy feeling in your head at the end of a good night.
