MARCO BAILEY PRESENTS POSITIVE DISORDER
MB ELEKTRONICS/NEWS

What the fuck’s techno? I call it electronic dance music’, said Derrick May once. Belgium’s Marco Bailey effortlessly transends the techno tag and shows why he’s become a global DJ giant over the last 15 years. The man obviously boasts deep knowledge of what detonates a crowd’s collective melon but has his finger firmly on the button of current developments as he straddles sexy electro through funky minimal to full-on pumperama. Ultimately, it has to be about the selection and Marco delivers with huge, throbbing knobs but with skilful subtlety and sublime intuition. CD1 is minimal and pulsing with names of the calibre of Wighnomy and Robag, Trentemoller and Mathew Jonson. CD2 rips into a firing techno kneesup with Ellen Allien, Slam, the mighty Motor and MB Elektronics muckers Tom Hades and Redhead amongst the fray. Marco himself submits a storming rumbler called ‘Bollocks’, which is a major highlight. Make that THE Bollocks.
