Miami-via-Paris Cedric Gervais is one of house music’s buzz names right now, and on the strength of his production, DJ and mix work, rightly so. Built around a handful of classic Yoshitoshi anthems and some of their forthcoming floorfillers, this slickly mixed album pits the best of both worlds: Gervais’ darker grooves with Yoshitoshi’s tribal house sound. Highlighted by two new Gervais remixes of Alcatraz ‘Giv Me Luv’ and Holmes Ives ‘8 Letters’, along with a new DJ Pedro reworking of Eddie Amador’s ‘House Music’, and Dave Aude’s tech-etched take on ‘Strobe Light’. Treading a tightrope that spans from funky bass-bin shakers to the twisted and progressive, CG ploughs his eccentric furrow with considerable style.
