A funky box of treats, this, selected and compiled by Fort Knox Five, which also takes the chance to showcase newcomers to their label. This means an outing for See-I, whose ‘Homegrown’ cranks up the guitars over some hip hop beats that work a treat. Meanwhile the rolling beats of Empresarios’ ‘Sabor Tropical’ impress, while Rodney Hunter gives See-I another top track with his remix of ‘How Could You’, adding offbeat sitar to what is an already funky bassline. The pace is lively, the funk towards the harder end – and the vibe, as a result, is good.
