Berlin’s Panorama bar has become a focal point for the city’s frighteningly propulsive electronic music scene. Resident Cassy has recorded for Perlon and is about to start her eponymous label. Turning her loose on a mix CD is a masterful move and she more than rises to the occasion – using two turntables and a mixer! Cassy’s 24 track selection could define the term Minimal and that strain of techno which is just so damn exciting in its possibilities. After dramatically setting the scene with the warped sub-bass of Shackleton’s ‘Blood On My Hands’, she throws in names like Villalobos, Mathias Kaden, Rick Wade and DBX before reaching back to Baby Ford’s ‘Silver Spoon’, all the time establishing a warm, sexy undertow. Cassy hits glorious levels of deepness and her remix of Liebe Ist Cool’s ‘Gluhwurmchen’is a ‘Bug In The Bass Bin’ for the 21st century. This makes a visit to the Panorama a very attractive proposition indeed.
