It’s time to party like it’s 1994 with this throwback for Paul Oakenfold, a Goa mix he made for Radio 1 that has finally been authorised, and given a rebuff in the studio. It’s a reminder of how new and fresh the Perfecto sound was in those days, especially with cuts such as Man With No Name’s ‘Floorescence’ sounding so vital. Oakenfold throws a bit of a curveball with the addition of some poignant soundtrack material from Platoon (Barber’s ‘Adagio for Strings’) and dfgdf. Intelligently moulded and paced, and thrillingly executed, this is a compilation that reminds us how futuristic trance music once was, and how individual a voice Perfecto had within that.
