It comes as little surprise to report the burgeoning electronic talent in France, when we’ve had the likes of Daft Punk, Justice, Etienne De Crecy and Cassius to enjoy over the last decade – to name just a few. This compilation looks at the up and coming producers, and makes a good start with the chunky electro funk of Brakebot and Donovan (not that Donovan!), with the catchy off beat chorus of ‘Wonderland’. There’s a bit of endearing weirdness from Mondkopf, introducing some strange choral vocals for ‘Chaos Is Mine’, while later on things get a bit more poppy with Anoraak and Chateau Marmont’s ‘Solar Apex’. While nothing here grabs you by the scruff of the neck, a lot of it makes you smile and nod in appreciation.
