Comparisons between James Zabiela and Sasha are frequent, but in truth the two deserve their own identities. Zabiela’s approach to this compilation is to blend music in with outside noise, so that the first CD begins with him walking along ‘F’ street in Washington before the music arrives. This CD has a more experimental feel to it, with Zabiela speeding up and slowing down as the mood takes him, while never letting up on the momentum or the flow of the mix as we move through tracks from Boards of Canada, Near The Parenthesis and Pedram. When he arrives at Quivver’s storming breakbeat track ‘Chasing A Feeling’, however, the sense is definitely that of a journey completed. Meanwhile the second mix kicks in to an upfront house rhythm early on and sticks with it, the tracks a lot more punchy and dancefloor orientated. Paul Woolford, Spektre and Zabiela himself see to that, before working up a lather to the finish with Luomo & Apparat’s ‘Love You All’. A superb, forward thinking pair of mixes that demand to be lived with for full appreciation.
