Highgrade have managed to release more than 100 releases since their beginnings ten years ago, so fully deserve this celebration of their darker house art. The labels strength lies in its subtle deep house tracks, bordering on techno with some of the deeper, darker shading that is applied. The two CDs here feature founder Tom Clark, with ‘Harry The Moustache’, with a bonus track from Todd Bodine in ‘Waiting For Flight 4267’. The new breed offer signs that the label is still in its infancy, as Sascha Hirtenfellner and Lars Heinrichs come up with a cracker in ‘Feel Me’. What the compilation shows above all is the fine job Clark has done with this label, bringing it through to become one of the mainstays of the darker side of dance music in Berlin. That it translates well into minimal home listening as well as the club is another plus point.
