Enter a new clubbing decade with the Ministry’s triple album guide – how will dance music be faring at the end of it I wonder? The Ministry claim is that 2009 could well have been one of the best years ever for house music, and while that may be a bit doubtful there are a lot of big tunes here to back up their boast. You don’t get much bigger than Armand Van Helden and A-Trak, so ‘Duck Sauce’ starts us off, and from then on it’s an impressive name check – Dizzee Rascal, Empire Of The Sun, Fake Blood, Kid Cudi, Prodigy, The Count &Sinden – you get the picture. Each of the three mixes is high adrenalin weekend material, though the second gets off to an iffy start with Basshunter’s ‘Every Morning’, quickly giving way to Pitbull and Freemasons. The Ministry still have their fingers on the pulse – and deserve credit for pushing some of the cream of 2009 as hard as they can into a new decade.
