Aside from the striking artwork, each Watergate release is eagerly awaited for its down to earth approach to house music. Previous efforts from Sascha Funke, Onur Ozer and Konrad Black have been fine indeed but this one from Sebo K is the best yet. Deep, chunky beats combine with subtly funky bass lines to produce a house set that you really can’t stand still to. The piece de resistance is Je Davu’s ‘Music Got You Movin’, a real classy funker, but Watergate edits of tracks by Martyn (‘Elden St’) and RNDM (‘Wake ‘Eld) are also essential. Add to this an atmospheric intro featuring Mood II Swing and DOP, and you have a fine finished package, the end product of a house DJ who needs to be watched.
