The second volume in the We Love Space Sundays series is titanic indeed, featuring superlative sets from veteran Ibiza godfather Alfredo and man of the moment Paul Woolford, representing two ends of the White Island story: the man who started it all and the current sound guaranteed to ignite the party. Alfredo instigated the whole Balearic spirit and still plays today, a true legend. Here he charts a typically-eclectic journey peppered with what sounds like live percussion, traversing classics like Ramirez’ ‘Hablando’, Leftfield’s ‘Not Forgotten’, Layo & Bushwacka!’s ‘Things Change’, Eric Kupper’s ‘Deepest Desire’, deep house of Scott Grooves and the piano heaven of Solution’s ‘Feel So Right’ plus names including Mathias Kaden, Henrik Scwarz and Amampondo. Dreamy, organic and cerebral, like everything he touches the set is shot with love and an eye on the party. Paul’s selection starts with his epic mix of Darius Syrossian and Mundyke’s ‘Caspian Man’ then goes on to mix his own bombs ‘Bring The Noid’ and euphoric piano outing ‘Utopia’ with tackle by names including John Tejada, Matt John, 51 Days and Didier Sinclair plus magic touches like Carl Craig’s Beatless remix of Francesco Tristano’s ‘The Melody’. Two fairly different sets but immaculate representations of a timeless vibe.
