ERALDO BERNOCCHI & NETHERWORLD – HIMURO – GLACIAL MOVEMENTS

The spacious sonic panoramas of this ambient duo immediately bring much needed relief from a pacey world, moving the listener to a place of calm reflection. This is helped by reassuring bass drums, bringing some loosely dubby feelings into the equation, which comes as a bit of a surprise for what is essentially cold weather music. Here it acquires a bit of heat, and there is certainly a warmth to how  the first track ‘hyozan’ opens out. It is not all soft tones and hushed motifs though, as the sharper sounds of ‘hyosetsu’ are much harsher. This is the first time Eraldo and Netherworld have collaborated, and while the joint venture occupied two years, it was definitely worth the investment. Another excellent addition to the auspicious catalogue that Glacial Movements already have.
