This is a great piece of electronically charged music by Roland Klinkenberg which achieves that enviable quality of functioning on a number of different levels. Sculpted from hard-edged synth stabs coupled with unrelenting, pounding beats this hypnotic arrangement proceeds to capture your attention as it weaves and undulates over eight and half minutes. It also sounds so particularly appealing because despite its tough rhythms it has an enticing, almost ambient quality which feels peaceful in contrast. ‘Yani’ continues the love with organic recordings pitched against a punchy up-tempo beat combining further explorations into electronic rhythm and imagination for Joris Voorn and Edwin Oosterwal’s colourful imprint.
