Sidney Charles – Impermanence EP – (Truesoul)

There’s something about the Truesoul and Sidney Charles combination that is a fascinating journey of contradictions. ‘Impermanence’ rolls out so hard and yet so sweetly it’s almost like gorging on strawberries and cream, watching angels gossiping with devils, dancing to techno but dropping moves like you’re dancing to funk and then warming yourself in front of a hell fire that’s been stoked by brimstone. ‘Skipper’ is like a lost ship in the Bermuda triangle. It has a heart of darkness, growling 303s and a ‘now watch your step’ reminder that will make the hairs on the back of your neck bristle with excitement. ‘A billion miles’ turns the intensity down a couple of notches for a simple shimmy shake in the lengthening shadows. And to close, ‘True Lies’ is a buzzing hornet’s nest with a subdued groove that puts itching powder in your underwear. This is my kind of hard techno – the stuff you can really dance to.
