Mujava has created a fat slab of very dark funky techno from Pretoria, Africa. “Township Funk” opens with a simple snare & kick rhythm that never let’s up, while deep and brooding moody pads create an edgy atmosphere over booty shaking bass, then in comes the nagging synth riff which is the icing on this authentic tribal cake, creating an overall feel that’s along the same lines as a classic Andrew Weatherall/Sabres Of Paradise tune. Ashley Beedle delivers an “Africanz On Marz Re-Edit” adding fuel to the fire. You need this record.
