I remember the first time I heard Doop’s self-titled debut back in the ’90s and loved it for all of five minutes before falling out of love almost as quickly. The same I fear will soon apply to this similarly-styled “novelty” house track that was a secret weapon of choice by the likes of Tony Humphries, Roger Sanchez, DJ Sneak, Kevin Saunderson, Carl Cox, and Norman Jay last season in Ibiza. For the uninitiated this is a throw back to the sleazy big band jazz sounds of the 1920s, although the sample is actually lifted from Peggy Lee’s famous take on the Kansas Joe McCoy blues standard ‘Why Don’t You Do Right?’ from two decades later (choo choo!!!). The currently addictive concoction of house, funk and classic swing also comes with a strong remix package sporting restylings from Bingo Players, DJ Sneak, Trevor Loveys and GreenMoney. A hit, but one that I suspect will also drive you crazy!
