Pellon – Song Of Sea (Parallel) (03/05)

The on point Parallel Label is back with yet more brilliant offerings. This latest and greatest EP comes from Pellon and features three great original tracks as well as a selection of cute remixes from Marco Resmann, Omer Grinker and Noah Pred. In all it is a classy package of rich and moody house for people who really know their stuff.

Song of Sea is first and is a patient, low burning deep rolling house cut with squelchy bass synths, one finger prods and twinkling keys up top. It is sumptuous to say the least. Marco Resmann, a Watergate regular, remixes the cut into something deeper and darker, with paranoid synths and icy hi hats running up the spine. Feeling Out of Control is another original from Pellon, and is again one that rolls deep. It has moody bass, spaced out synths and is really a heady number. Bleak vocals add to the weirdness and Omer Grinker then remixes with a subtle hand. He ups the ante and makes it a more driving but just as heady cut. Finally the last original is The Real Aspect, a slick tech cut with more rounded and rich melodies layered over rubber drums. A Noah Pred remix then flips it into something more upwardly mobile, with panning effects and fat synths. Overall though this is a classy package to be sure.
