Another track from last year’s incredible Paradolia album but taken somewhere else again. Not by remixers but the man himself, whose Abort Mix attacks probably the album’s most startling track by dismembering and readjusting those strings to form a kind of symphonic wall which swells into a mighty behemoth of sound which really is like very little else you’ve heard. But underneath, there’s a riff that might recall early Sabres Of Paradise to some. Breathtaking and emotional. There’s also an edit of the track, homing in on Alex’s strings – he’s classically trained in the cello – and boasting an emotional clout on a par with ‘Unfinished Sympathy’. If that wasn’t enough, they’ve thrown in the Vapid mix of ‘Always And Forever’, which first appeared on the Seventh Sign label and got a good reaction when it popped up on Alex’s fantastic Sci-Fi Hi-Fi mix album. Amazing tackle which raises Alex’s bar yet again. What’s he like?
