DJ Hell’s upcoming Teufelswerk set is possibly the peak of the great man’s career [and will be fully soiled over next week]. This single gives a taste of the delights to come, which include a burst of Hawkwind’s ‘Silver Machine’ and it’s obvious that his main inspiration here is kraut-rock, cosmic music, whatever you want to call it. The lead track plants haunting piano and guitar over building motorik sprinkled with 303, female vocals and chorale whichh cut to acoustic guitar, a lone mouse breaking wind then building up again into rolling vistas of acid heaven. Henrik Schwarz then comes in for the stripped-down night-crawling version. DJ Hell never stops pulling unexpected monsters out of his sonic cod-piece but this hefty taste is but the bell-end of the mighty iceberg.
