BABY FORD & EON
DEAD EYE

Richie Hawtin’s esteemed label has plucked two lost gems from the early 90s and planted them on one twelve, which is an eye-opening delight from start to finish. ‘Dead Eye’ by electronic pioneers Baby Ford and Eon first appeared on Ifach in ’94, often popping up since as a highlight of mix albums. It’s a gem of gorgeously spacial, translucent techno with the kick only appearing halfway through. ‘Amenity’ was created by Global Communications’ Mark Pritchard in ’92, being first being released on Evolution/Universal Language. It has long been a fave of Richie’s sets, with its skeletal bass and drum crawl predating minimal except created on more primitive equipment. The phrase ‘ahead of their time’ was coined for these two tracks.
