Colin Hobbs
New Dawn
White Noise

Regular readers will know that the White Noise supremo’s initial singles have been greeted exceptionally well, the inter-galactic symphony of ‘Ocean Trench’ in line for one of the tracks of the year. That’s a tough act to follow and he doesn’t try to emulate, instead presenting yet another facet of his electronic smorgasbord by loosely plumbing the minimal glitchy vibe; relentless, slightly sinister and capable of slow-fuse floor demolition. As before, the remixes call in some hotties: Front Room Recordings’ Deadset further highlighting the spacey elements while getting all fidgety over two quite mesmerising versions. Then – be afraid – it’s the ultra-prolific Let’s Go Outside who takes the mood of prevailing panic and chaos and shoots it full of his customary wildly-inventive claustrophobia and atmosphere. His dub adds more unsettling textures, cranium-slicing screes and plughole bloops. Another creative hotbed. What’s he gonna do next?
