ike many of the labels under the S.U.F. umbrella, D.A.V.E. The Drummer’s Hydraulix has carved an instantly-recognisable style of its own. And this is one of the mightiest as it continues to chart an often jaw-dropping style of supercharged deep techno with Detroit leanings and superlatively subtle production. Here D.A.V.E. hitches up with Lectrolux, boss of hard trance imprint Tec, for a snarlingly bass-heavy mesmeriser which uses real tension and bottomless textures to stoke through gradually to an mercilessly powerful home stretch. It’s dark down there with the riffs of doom, but the floor effect can only be seismic. The flip starts deeper, establishing a speedy momentum inter-cut with ‘here we go”s, before dropping nothing less than the string stabs from ‘String Of Life’. Severe ‘oh fuck!’ factor and a towering release all round.
