Only into its third release and this new Soma offshoot is establishing a name for tackling pure electronic forms with no regard for barriers. Detroit’s Dan Curtin should need no introduction to lovers of the Motor City. He’s relocated to the techno hotbed that is Berlin and obviously soaked up the city’s minimal vibe, but still bursts with Detroit soul and melodic sensibility, creating a forward-thrusting bass-propelled beast topped with clonking patterns, shouting girl and dismembered noises. The flip’s ‘Yummysweet’ strips down and delves deeper, gaining metallic steam on a more minimal tip. Exhileratingly great.
